👋
Welcome!
Thanks for downloading SecShot. Below is everything you need to know about the tool — it won't even take a minute.
1
Waiting in your tray
When SecShot starts, a small icon appears next to your clock. It opens no window and runs quietly.
2
Take a screenshot
Press the PrintScreen key. The screen dims and a mode bar appears at the top: Region (select an area with your mouse), Window (hover and click a window) and Full Screen.
3
Draw and edit
The editor has box, arrow, pen, text, number and blur tools. Blur out sensitive information.
4
Share
Press Upload — a short link is copied to your clipboard. Paste and share it.
5
Manage
Use Last Screenshot in the tray menu to copy your last upload's link, open it in a browser, or permanently delete it from the server.
Keyboard shortcuts
| Take a screenshot (region) | PrintScreen |
| Capture full screen | Ctrl + PrintScreen |
| Capture a window | Alt + PrintScreen |
| Cancel selection / editor | Esc |
| Undo in editor | Ctrl + Z |
| Upload | Ctrl + Enter |
💡 Tips
- Hide sensitive areas with the blur tool before uploading.
- Pick the drawing color from the Color button, set the pen width from 1–20 with the Thickness box.
- The Number tool auto-increments on each click (1, 2, 3…) — perfect for step-by-step walkthroughs.
- Don't want to upload to the server? Use Copy (⧉) to put the image straight on your clipboard, or Save (💾) to download it to disk.
- Made a wrong mark? Undo with Ctrl + Z, cancel everything with Esc.
- Fastest path: select the region, annotate, and upload instantly with Ctrl + Enter.
- From Settings: auto-copy the URL, open in browser after upload, keep images locally, or run automatically on Windows startup.
- Large images are automatically compressed to WebP — quality is preserved and the link opens fast.
- Shared the wrong thing? Remove it from the server with one click in the Last Screenshot tray menu.
- Switch to Window or Full Screen from the mode bar atop the dimmed screen; or use the Alt+PrintScreen (window) and Ctrl+PrintScreen (full screen) shortcuts directly.
